The CORAL CREEK STRING BAND is a dynamic and talented acoustic project from Colorado, playing Colo-Caribbean Newgrass Music that fuses high-energy traditional bluegrass with Caribbean, jamband and Americana classics. Coral Creek performs the original music of Chris Thompson (guitar/vocals) and features some of the top acoustic players in the Colorado music scene today including Justin Konrad (dobro), Matt Thomas (bass) and special guest Allie Kral (fiddle/vocals).
With the 2010 release of his solo record, THE ROAD AHEAD (produced by Bill Nershi of the String Cheese Incident), Chris Thompson emerged on the Colorado music scene as a song-writing force appealing to the traditional bluegrass, newgrass and jam-band audiences alike. The Coral Creek String Band released their first studio album, FORTY YEARS, in 2012 and has toured across the US, UK, Europe and the Caribbean - playing campgrounds, beach bars, concert halls and festival main stages along the way. CCSB will be dropping tracks throughout 2023 and releasing a new acoustic album in the fall.
CORAL CREEK has performed and recorded with distinguished artists including Sam Bush, Peter Rowan, Todd Sheaffer & Tim Carbone (Railroad Earth), Bill Nershi, Kyle Hollingsworth and Keith Moseley (The String Cheese Incident), Drew Emmitt, Vince Herman and Andy Thorn (Leftover Salmon), Adam Aijala, Jeff Austin and Allie Kral (Yonder Mountain String Band), Andy Hall (Infamous Stringdusters), Luke Bulla (Lyle Lovett Band), Pete Wernick (Hot Rize), Anders Beck (Greensky Bluegrass) and other heavy hitters in the Newgrass scene.
Coral Creek String Band has played national and international music festivals including Four Corners Folk Festival, Revival Music Festival, Tico Time Bluegrass Festival, Philadeliphia International Arts Festvival, Yarmonygrass, UllrGrass and the Birkenried Bluegrass Festival in Germany.
